First game for the Peacocks: As above

Vastly experienced former centre half who has since gone on to become Assistant Manager to Rob Dray. He began his career playing for his local club Bridgwater Town before joining Plymouth Argyle as a trainee in 2002. His first season at Home Park featured no first team appearances and in July 2004 he signed for League One side Torquay United on a season-long loan deal, making his debut as a substitute against Sheffield Wednesday the next month. He went on to play 14 full games and 10 as sub for the Gulls that season and signed for them permanently upon his release by Plymouth in the summer of 2005. He appeared a further 22 times over the next season and a half before suffering an injury late in 2006, and was released from Torquay in May 2007. After rejoining Bridgwater in pre-season he signed for Tiverton Town in the summer of 2007 and made over 85 appearances for the Devon club until signing for National League South side Weston-super-Mare late in 2009. After making over 100 appearances there, he rejoined Tiverton for their play-off season of 2013-14 but switched to Bideford for the following campaign. Joined Yate Town in the summer of 2015 before arriving at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium in November 2015.

He played regularly over the next season and a half but injuries contributed to his decision to retire from playing in January 2018. His Peacocks’ career totals 53 full and 6 substitute appearances plus two goals. He was appointed as First Team Coach ahead of the 2018-19 season before helping Rob Dray take over the reins weeks after the start of the season after Leigh Robinson left the club. Matt progressed to become Assistant Manager later in the campaign.
