Talented left back who signed for the Peacocks in the summer of 2020 following his departure from Newport County. He graduated through the Welsh club’s Academy and was introduced into the first team squad in July 2017. Jay made his senior debut for County at the age of 16 in a Football League Cup tie against Southend United in August that year, making him the third youngest debutant in the club’s history. After signing a pro contract in April 2018 he spent time on loan at Merthyr Town from January 2019 until the end of the season before being loaned out to National League South side Chippenham Town where he played every game in the 2019-20 season. After being released by Newport, he linked up with the Peacocks during pre-season and went on to be an ever-present in the shortened 2020-21 campaign. Jay scored some vital goals as the Peacocks won the Southern Premier championship in 2021-22, including the winner against Farnborough which secured the title on the final day and a stunning free kick at Tiverton which won him the Goal of the Season award while he also scooped the Press Writers Award. He again won the Goal of the Season accolade for 2022-23 with his sublime strike at Tonbridge Angels but his season ended early following a nasty injury at Welling and he is now rebuilding fitness ready to return.
