Pre-season draws to a close for the Peacocks when they travel to Swindon Supermarine for their final friendly tomorrow evening (28th July), ko 7.45pm.

Results-wise it has been a fairly successful past few weeks with four wins and only one defeat to Exeter City from six outings. Far more important though has been getting the squad up to match fitness ahead of what will be another gruelling National League season plus the chance to both implement different tactics and assess a number of trialists. Tomorrow’s trip to Supermarine will provide a final opportunity to put plans into practice before Braintree Town come to Wordsworth Drive a week on Saturday.

Supermarine narrowly missed out on a place in the play-offs last season, finishing in 6th position in the Southern Premier South and are sure to be amongst the front runners for the new campaign. Their pre-season has seen them lose four out of five, with home defeats to Swindon Town and Cheltenham Town as well as Town’s National League South rivals Chippenham Town and Weymouth. Their solitary win came at Bishops Cleeve by a 2-0 margin. Tomorrow’s match is also Supermarine’s last action until they kick-off at home to Poole Town on 5th August.

The Peacocks name an unchanged squad from Tuesday’s meeting with Tiverton Town, with Dan Ball still out with a leg infection.
