The Peacocks begin a crucial trio of games in the forthcoming week against sides near the bottom end of the Vanarama National League South table starting with the visit of Hampton & Richmond Borough to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium tomorrow evening (7th March), ko 7.45pm.

Saturday’s terrific victory at top ten outfit Tonbridge Angels was Town’s first in seven League outings which will hopefully prove the perfect catalyst as they prepare to tackle matches against Cheshunt, Chippenham Town and tomorrow’s opponents Borough who travel to Somerset lying in 19th position, two places and four points below the Peacocks and having played five games more. Their recent form has been variable, the month of February seeing successive defeats to Slough and Ebbsfleet followed by two home wins on the bounce against Eastbourne and Dulwich Hamlet before suffering losses in their last two matches to Tonbridge and a 1-0 reverse at Braintree on Saturday.

After their impressive home record of being unbeaten since August 2021 was ended in January, the Cygnet has not proved such a happy home of late as Town seek to secure their first win in six home games against a Hampton side who have been resident in the National League South since 2016. The Peacocks will have a full strength squad to select from, with Lee Lucas back in contention along with Nat Jarvis who was an unused substitute on Saturday. Head of Football Rob Dray commented:” Following Saturday’s great win it is important to follow that up with a good result against another team close to us. Trying to predict results by looking at the League table doesn’t work this season though so we have to be on our game from the first whistle tomorrow. If we don’t turn up, we know that sides at this level will take advantage which has happened in our last two home games so the boys are fully aware what they need to do.”

Last meeting: the sides have only met on the one previous occasion which saw the Peacocks, who were then in the Southern League Division One South & West, cause an FA Cup shock with a 2-1 victory on 1st October 2016. Jordan Rogers put Town ahead on the stroke of half time, but Nicke Kabamba equalised two minutes into first half stoppage time before Rogers scored the winner with a second half penalty.
