The Peacocks play their final away friendly of their pre-season campaign when they travel to Chippenham Town tomorrow evening (30th July), ko 7.45pm.

The game is sure to provide a real test for Town with the National League South hosts a step above Town in the non-league structure. The Peacocks have won three of their four warm-up matches to date but the only defeat has been against higher league opposition in the form of Exeter City so tomorrow’s meeting will be a good benchmark with the Southern League season just over two weeks away.

Chippenham have an identical success rate to the Peacocks, having won three of their four pre-season games. They opened with a 3-0 success against Clevedon Town before going down to a 2-1 defeat to League club Newport County. Since then they have recorded 3-0 and 2-0 victories at Cirencester Town and Melksham Town respectively. The two sides met before the start of last season, the Peacocks coming out on top by a 3-1 margin at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium which may give the Wiltshire side some extra incentive as they prepare for their League opener at Dulwich Hamlet on 14th August.

The Peacocks should have a full squad available with goalkeeper Lloyd Irish returning after his honeymoon and left back Jay Foulston back following his trial at Swansea City. Head of Football Rob Dray remarked:” Tomorrow will be a good test to show us where we are. We need to start ramping our performances up with the season fast approaching.”
