A dominant performance from the Peacocks saw them beat Wantage Town 5-0 in the 1st Round Qualifying of the Emirates FA Cup at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium this evening (22nd September).

The game was fairly non-eventful until Dan Sullivan fired Town ahead after 23 minutes with a peach of a strike, sending a half volley over Joe Gorman from 25 yards. From then on, the outcome was never in doubt. After Jamie Short’s shot had cannoned back off the post, Toby Holmes latched onto the loose ball to beat the defence and roll the ball over the line for the second goal three minutes before the break and Holmes then added his second and Town’s third of the evening on 55 minutes when he was played through by Sullivan to steer home past Gorman. Owen Howe who had only just come on as a substitute lashed in Town’s fourth goal from the edge of the box after 63 minutes before another replacement Dan McBeam finished off the scoring on 76 minutes, cutting in from the right to drive home a fine finish into the top corner.
