A vitally important Vanarama National League South game awaits the Peacocks tomorrow (Easter Monday 1st April) when Bath City visit Wordsworth Drive, ko 3.00pm.

Good Friday’s defeat at Weston-super-Mare kept Town stationary in 21st place but with results elsewhere falling their way the situation could have been far worse, and with their games in hand the opportunity remains firmly there to escape the drop. The loss at Weston was the Peacocks fourth in a row so all eyes will be on halting that sequence against a City side which will also be eager for points at the other end of the table as they look to secure a place in the play-offs. They currently lie in 8th place three points outside the play-off zone but with six fixtures still to play the Romans are well in the mix for the end of season knockout.

A blistering spell of five consecutive victories from the latter end of January has given way to a run of only one win in their last eight games since the end of February, with their last two matches ending in draws away at Worthing and then home to Weymouth on Good Friday. On the road they have won six and lost only four of their 19 games played and with their strikeforce of Cody Cooke and Scott Wilson sitting high up in the division’s scoring charts with 16 goals apiece, the Town defence will need to be on their toes from the start with the Romans also chasing the league double.

The Peacocks name an unchanged squad from the Weston game, with Head of Football Rob Dray saying:” Another local derby and the chance to get some points in the table but it is never easy in this league and Bath are rightly in and around the play-offs. There is no point feeling sorry for ourselves, we need to crack on and keep going with nine to go.”

The pitch has been partially covered in light of the forecasted rain tonight but it is currently playable and no inspection is planned.
