A late winner from skipper Nick Grimes secured the three Southern League points for the Peacocks as they won 2-1 at Hartley Wintney this afternoon (2nd October).

With rain falling constantly, neither side could manage a breakthrough in a goalless first half before Town grabbed the lead after 61 minutes when Dan Sullivan put Gethyn Hill through to finish with a lovely chip over keeper Luke Williams. The visitors looked to be heading home with the win until the 88th minute when Leo Hamblin’s shot took a big deflection off Ben Adelsbury to leave Will Buse stranded and bring the hosts level. However the Peacocks kept going and were rewarded a minute into stoppage time when a Lee Lucas free kick fell for Grimes to head home and lift his side up to 5th in the table.
