The Peacocks’ terrific success on the pitch this season was mirrored on the racetrack on Sunday (22nd April).

We are delighted to report that club mascot Wordsworth was the winner in the annual Mascot Race at Wincanton Racecourse which was run to raise awareness of Children with Brain Injury as part of the Children’s’ Trust. Wordsworth beat off the challenge from ten other runners including Spytty the Dog from Newport County, Bladud the Pig from Bath City, KC Cat from Woking and Yeovil Town’s Jolly Green Giant to reach the finishing line in first place and record another first for the Peacocks!

Stewards Rob Wenham and Mike ‘Chopper’ Byrne escorted the feline sprinter to the racecourse and commented: “Wordsworth was on fire! We’ve never seen someone move so fast since a certain club official of ours spotted the chocolate digestives.”
