The Peacocks play their first home National League South game of the month when they welcome Tonbridge Angels to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium tomorrow afternoon (29th October), ko 3.00pm.

With the memory of Tuesday evening’s unlucky defeat at Oxford City hopefully spurring them on, Town will be hoping to arrest a run of six League matches without a win which has seen them slip to 19th in the table, just three points clear of the relegation zone. As is becoming abundantly clear, there are no pushovers in the National League and tomorrow will prove another tough hurdle to get over, with Angels just outside the play-off zone in 8th position with 23 points from 14 games played. They have won their last two matches at their Halcyon Wealth Longmead Stadium home, beating Chippenham Town before inflicting only Chelmsford City’s 2nd League defeat of the season on Tuesday evening, whilst on the road they have won three of their seven away fixtures to date at Weymouth, Dover and Cheshunt.

The two teams have met on five previous occasions, four of them back in the Southern League in the late 1970’s when tomorrow’s opponents were purely known as Tonbridge, the Angels suffix not being added until 1994. The Peacocks have yet to register a win, with Tonbridge coming out on top in four of the five meetings with the other game ending in a draw, providing Town with an extra incentive to register their first win against the Angels tomorrow.

The Peacocks name an unchanged squad from Tuesday with Lee Lucas back in the equation after resting his knee while Nick McCootie has a tight hamstring but should be available. Head of Football Rob Dray commented:” It’s great to be at home after a tough ten days away on the road. This League does you no favours so despite the circumstances of Tuesday night we need a positive result to take us into next week.”
