The Peacocks have the opportunity to reach their first ever Southern League Cup Final when they travel to meet Swindon Supermarine for the second time in four days tomorrow evening (15th February), ko 7.45pm.
Town have already surpassed their best effort in the competition by reaching the Semi-Final but will now be aiming to go on and claim a place in the Final against either Royston Town or Rushall Olympic who both reside in the Southern Premier Central Division. However they will firstly have to again overcome a Supermarine side who they beat 2-0 on Saturday at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium to complete the League double, having won 1-0 at the Webbswood Stadium earlier in the campaign. Marine will therefore have a major incentive to make it third time lucky against the Peacocks this season and participate in the two-legged Final which is scheduled to take place in the last two weeks of March.
To reach this stage of the competition Supermarine firstly beat Larkhall at home before winning at Salisbury. They then enjoyed a comfortable victory over Melksham before thrashing Wantage 8-1 at the Webbswood Stadium to reach the Quarter-Final when a stoppage time goal from Ryan Campbell steered them to a 1-0 win at Berkhamsted. The Peacocks meanwhile have accounted for Bideford on penalties followed by a 6-0 win over Barnstaple before they came out on top against Truro by a 3-1 margin. Town then beat Weston-super-Mare and Paulton Rovers to achieve a spot in the last four.
Whether Town can extend their remarkable unbeaten run in all competitions to 17 matches remains to be seen but they will go into the tie with the confidence of being able to name an unchanged squad from Saturday.
