The Peacocks hope to resume action after a frost-induced break of eleven days when they travel to Slough Town in the 3rd Round Proper of the Isuzu FA Trophy tomorrow (17th December), ko 3.00pm.

Town have lost their last two games due to frozen pitches and have consequently fallen behind with their fixtures in the National League South, having now played as many as seven games fewer than some teams in the division. That situation won’t improve tomorrow with the FA Trophy being a diversion away from League duty whilst providing the Peacocks’ last chance of cup success this season. This will be Town’s second visit to Slough during this campaign after going down to a 1-0 defeat three months ago in the National League so will be hoping for a better performance and result tomorrow as they chase the £4,500 prize money on offer for the winner.

The Rebels are sat in 20th place in the League table, having recorded just one League victory since Town travelled to Arbour Park, with their only success from their last 14 matches coming with a 3-0 win at Hanwell Town in the previous round of the FA Trophy. Recently appointed new manager Scott Davies will therefore be keen to arrest that trend and progress at Town’s expense tomorrow. As for the Peacocks, prior to their Somerset Premier Cup loss at Yeovil, they had been on a run of four games unbeaten which included the 2-1 victory over Dulwich Hamlet in the previous round of tomorrow’s competition. Head of Football Rob Dray commented:” After an enforced break which cleared up some illness, we look forward to getting going again. We want to and need to play catch up on our fixtures starting on Saturday which will be the only time I’ll be pleased to play on a plastic pitch. Another cup run would be good and with a fully fit squad we look forward to it.”
