The Peacocks make the long trip to Royston Town tomorrow evening (29th March) for the 2nd leg of the Southern League Challenge Cup Final, ko 7.45pm.

The Hertfordshire club hold the advantage after winning last week’s 1st leg 2-0 at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium and will therefore be favourites to lift the silverware tomorrow.  They will be further buoyed by their 2-0 League win at Hednesford on Saturday, a result which keeps them in 8th spot in the Premier Central.

The Peacocks will also have had their confidence boosted by Saturday’s win at Gosport with a squad currently short on numbers but high in spirits after results elsewhere saw Town rise to 2nd place in the table. For tomorrow’s game, Head of Football Rob Dray brings in a number of Bridgwater and Taunton College players to the squad while Jared Lewington has recovered from Covid. The Town boss said:” Bringing the college lads in is a fitting reward for their involvement during this season’s competition. Several have been included in the squad for most rounds and is a great indication of the partnership we have with the college. The League remains our top priority but saying that we are not going there to make up the numbers and despite the deficit from the first leg we will be giving it our best shot.”
