The Peacocks’ promotion hunt continues tomorrow (19TH March) when Chesham United visit the Cygnet Health Care Stadium, ko 3.00pm.
It will be another tough test for Town against a Chesham team lying one spot beneath them in 5th and who will also be eyeing a victory to maintain the gap between themselves and the likes of Weston-super-Mare, Yate and Gosport who sit just outside the play-off zone. The Generals have enjoyed a strong run recently, having lost just twice in 11 games since the Peacocks drew 1-1 at the Meadow a week before Christmas, with Jared Lewington putting Town ahead in the first half before Karl Oliyide equalised after the break. They have picked up four wins and a draw from their last five matches including a 4-1 triumph over title chasers Metropolitan Police, demonstrating the tough challenge Town will face tomorrow.
Last weekend’s 1-1 draw with then leaders Hayes & Yeading United made it only one defeat in their last 22 competitive games for the Peacocks, a brilliant record which they will want to extend tomorrow as they know any slip-ups will weaken their hopes for automatic promotion. Head of Football Rob Dray names the same squad as the Hayes game with the addition of new signing Harry Warwick and the welcome return of Gethyn Hill who has been sidelined for seven weeks following his head injury sustained against Kings Langley. The Town boss remarked:” It’s another massive game for us against one of the best sides we’ve played this season. They are strong and well organized, and it will be a huge test but one we must be up for if we are serious about our ambitions. It will be a real boost to have Geth back and with Harry as well we have some great attacking options going into the last month which we will need.”
Admission is payable by card or cash at the turnstile only, priced at £10 for Adults, £8 for Concessions and £5 for Juniors (14-17 years). Under 14’s are free on condition they are accompanied by an adult. Unaccompanied Under 14’s will not be admitted.
