It’s back to the Vanarama National League South for the Peacocks tomorrow (23rd September) when they entertain Havant & Waterlooville at Wordsworth Drive, ko 3.00pm.

And they will be looking for a big performance after the midweek disappointment of defeat to Merthyr Town in the FA Cup as they seek to improve on their seven game unbeaten sequence in the league, a run which sees them occupy 5th spot. In contrast, tomorrow’s visitors have endured a torrid start to the season and lie at the bottom of the table with four points, made up of a draw at Chelmsford City and a 4-3 home success against Yeovil Town. Other than that they have suffered seven defeats including their three most recent league outings whilst also exiting the Emirates FA Cup last weekend to Southern League Bracknell Town so they will be desperate to turn the tide against the Peacocks tomorrow.

Recently appointed manager Steve King has been busy adding fresh faces to the Havant squad with the recent arrivals of centre half Yoan Zouma and loanees Dylan Crowe from Torquay United and midfielder Jack Jebb from Dorking Wanderers while other additions over the summer include winger Billie Busari from Gosport Borough and midfield men Ansu Janneh from Dagenham & Redbridge and Tom Mehew from Chippenham Town. 21 goal top scorer from last season Muhammadu Faal also remains.

Peacocks’ captain Nick Grimes serves a one game suspension for accruing five bookings so far this season, otherwise the squad is likely to remain unchanged from Tuesday’s game. Head of Football Rob Dray said:” After Tuesday’s disappointment we need to see all the good things from the nine league games that have started us off in good stead. We underperformed in the cup but our displays in the league have been solid, and we now need to focus on that even more. Despite their current position, Havant have some very good players with a successful new manager, so we need to get Tuesday out of our system and get our mindset back on track. Support your team, support your club.”

Last meeting: the Peacocks lost out to a stoppage time goal on the last occasion the sides met on 18th February earlier this year with the Hawks triumphing 3-2 at West Leigh Park. Callum Kealy put the hosts ahead before Town turned the tables by going 2-1 up via goals from Cameron Evans and Dylan Morgan. However, Muhammadu Faal equalised before Sam Matthews stole it for the hosts in minute 90+1. Relive the match highlights HERE
