The Peacocks are on the road for their next two Vanarama National League South fixtures starting with the trip to Chippenham Town tomorrow evening (5th September), ko 7.45pm.

Saturday’s victory over Dartford made it five games unbeaten for Town as they settle into their second season at Step 2 and they will be aiming to keep that run going when they take on a Chippenham side who sit in 10th position with 11 points from their opening seven games. They started off the campaign with two wins and two losses but are now unbeaten in three games following away draws at Braintree and Dover sandwiching a home victory over Slough. This will be the Bluebirds’ 7th season in the National League South since gaining promotion from the Southern League in 2017 and they have added to their numbers for 2023-24 with several acquisitions including former Peacocks’ midfielder Luke Spokes from Bath City, defender Luke Haines from Hereford, midfielder Jake Evans from Hungerford Town and ex-Woking man Tyreke Johnson while strikers Craig Fasanmade and Matt McClure who both netted in the most recent meeting between the sides remain at the Wiltshire club and started Saturday’s match at Dover.

The Peacocks will travel to the Thornbury Surfacing Stadium in good shape, with the weekend win lifting them up to 5th place although they have yet to claim three points on the road this season. The squad is unchanged from the Dartford game, with Head of Football Rob Dray stating:” We have to take one game at a time in this league as it starts to pan out. Chippenham have started well again and will be a different test to the last two games we’ve played. We are aware that you can easily lose three games in a week such is the standard, but we carry on with the fundamentals that we have done so well in during the first month.”
