We are delighted to welcome Marcus Day and Rabby Tabu Minzamba to the club who have both signed following a successful trial period during pre-season.
Both players featured in all seven of the Peacocks’ summer friendlies and have now joined the squad for the long season ahead. Midfielder Tabu began his career in Dublin playing for his local club Corduff FC before progressing to the academy at League Of Ireland Shelbourne FC where he played from age 15 to 19. He then moved over to England to study at university whilst also pursuing his playing career and has featured for Mangotsfield United, Highworth Town and most recently was at Bath City.
Speaking about his arrival at Wordworth Drive, Rabby said:” I’m looking forward to playing for Taunton this season. The group, manager, staff and fans have been very welcoming throughout pre-season and can’t wait to experience it when the real competition begins. We’ve got a really close knit group, so I think it’ll take us far during the season. I’ve had a little taste of this level at Bath City last year so the aim this season is to play more games and become a regular in what’s hopefully a successful season for the club.”
Day, who can operate as a wing back or winger, was with Bristol City from the age of 14 and played for the Under 18 and Under 23 sides while also spending several months on loan at Paulton Rovers. Following his release from City in 2019 he joined Bristol Manor Farm before signing for Barry Town in July 2021. After a season in the Cymru Premier he returned to Bristol Manor Farm in the summer of 2022 until switching to AFC Totton in February this year where he helped them win promotion to the Southern Premier.
Marcus commented:” I’m really happy to finally get this sorted and join the club. Taunton is a big club and is a place where I think I can really develop and kick on. There are a great bunch of lads here and staff that have made me feel really welcome so I just can’t wait to get started now.”
Head of Football Rob Dray added:” They have both come in as trialists and have done really well. They realised it will be very difficult to get into a National League South squad, but we’ve been impressed with their perseverance and attitudes which have been absolutely nailed on. We wanted to keep the squad a bit thicker this season, so it made sense for them to join us at this moment in time. Both are good young lads who are very mobile and technically sound and I’m pleased for them.”
