The Peacocks’ unbeaten pre-season campaign ended when they lost 2-0 to Yeovil Town at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium yesterday evening (23rd July).

A game that saw both sides have a handful of chances was divided by a brace from Yeovil’s Rhys Murphy. After a goalless first half The Glovers came out strongest after the break when moments after the restart a curling effort from Murphy found the top corner to give Yeovil the lead. The Glovers then doubled their lead on the 68 minute mark when Murphy got his second, this time heading in a cross from a trialist. The Peacocks had chances to find a goal for themselves, best of the bunch being a free kick from Ed Palmer which was deflected off the wall and narrowly wide. But it was The Glovers that took away the win but for the Peacocks it was a good test against higher opposition.

Reaction – Head of Football Rob Dray said:” Tonight was just what we needed in terms of our pre-season preparations. I thought we kept our shape well and worked hard out of possession against a very decent side. Although we don’t like losing it’s not all about results in pre-season and we’ve got more out of tonight’s game than by scoring a hatful of goals against a weaker side. Overall a solid night’s work but there is more to come.”
