The Peacocks unbeaten pre-season record ended with a 3-0 defeat to Exeter City at Wordsworth Drive this evening.
Despite the result, Town gave a good account of themselves against the League One outfit who were ahead after just eight minutes when a Demetri Mitchell shot deflected off a home defender to loop over Dan Lavercombe. City keeper Gary Woods denied Malachi Linton a debut goal before the Grecians doubled their lead two minutes into the second half when Sam Nombe backheeled into the net from six yards. Ryan Trevitt made it 3-0 after 58 minutes when he swept home a cross from the left to confirm the win for City.
