The Peacocks suffered their second successive Southern League defeat when they went down 2-1 to early leaders Hayes & Yeading United this afternoon (28th August).
The hosts went ahead in only the 5th minute when Keano Robinson tapped home at the far post after a corner had slipped through Lloyd Irish’s hands before Town got themselves back in the game on the quarter hour when home keeper Jack Smith could only parry Ollie Chamberlain’s shot and Gethyn Hill fired in the loose ball. Chamberlain’s shot hit the bar soon after but it was Hayes who scored the winner after 75 minutes when Moses Emmanuel got on the end of Hassan Jalloh’s free kick to guide a header into the net off the post. Smith denied Jack Veale a late equaliser and Town now have to quickly regroup for Monday’s visit of Truro City to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium.
