The Peacocks maintained their unbeaten record in pre-season with a 3-1 home victory over Chippenham Town this evening (4th September).

It was an impressive performance from the hosts who deserved the win over their National League South visitors as the Cygnet Health Care Stadium welcomed back supporters for the first time since March. The game was brought to life by the opening goal after 20 minutes, Gethyn Hill seizing on a loose ball to float a fine effort over the Chippenham trialist keeper from 25 yards.

The visitors were level two minutes later, a free kick played square to Luke Russe who curled a neat shot from the edge of the box beyond the dive of Lloyd Irish to leave it even stevens at the break. The second half saw the Peacocks in command and their pressure finally paid off after 65 minutes when Chippenham couldn’t clear Jay Foulston’s corner and skipper Nick Grimes drove the ball home from 15 yards. Toby Holmes then added a third a minute from time, latching onto Ross Staley’s assist to drill his shot into the far corner.
