The Peacocks conceded a stoppage time equalizer as Exeter City fought back to gain a 2-2 draw in an entertaining friendly at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium this evening (25th July).

A goalless first half saw both sides have half chances but nothing clear cut before the deadlock was broken in spectacular fashion two minutes into the second half when Shane White’s throw was headed clear and met by a superb Ollie Chamberlain volley from just outside the box which nestled in the corner.

The lead was doubled on the hour when Andrew Neal’s misdirected header from Jamie Price’s cross fell for Josh Grant to rifle home before Exeter scored twice in the final ten minutes to even things up. Ben Seymour pulled a goal back on 82 minutes, pouncing to convert following a Jack Sparkes free kick. Seymour then saw his penalty saved by Lloyd Irish two minutes later after Luke Manley had fouled Joel Randall before the Grecians levelled two minutes into added time when Will Dean headed home from close range from Sparkes’ corner.

Reaction – Head of Football Rob Dray commented:” I’m pleased with tonight’s work and overall this week. We’ve got some great minutes through the squad and at a really good level. Importantly we saw some things we really liked tonight and one or two things we didn’t but ultimately we are not far away from where we want to be at this stage of pre-season. Now we rest for Tuesday and a cup final in July..”
