The Peacocks racked up a fantastic 8th consecutive Southern League win with a 3-0 success at Merthyr Town this afternoon.

The deserved victory keeps Town in 4th place, but their position has been strengthened with results elsewhere. The Peacocks were ahead as early as the third minute when Ross Stearn’s shot from 25 yards crashed off the crossbar and found the net off the back of Merthyr keeper Jaimie Cogman. This remained the score at the break before Town upped the tempo in the second half and after Ollie Chamberlain had fired against the bar, the lead was doubled after 68 minutes when Chamberlain was brought down by Luke Cummings, and Stearn slotted home from the penalty spot. The points were secured five minutes from time when great work from Zac Smith eventually led to Stearn squeezing enough room in the box to fire in off the post. Keyon Reffell struck the woodwork late on for the Martyrs whose plight worsens at the bottom of the table whilst the Peacocks extend their unbeaten run to a mightily impressive 15 games.
