We are pleased to support Somerset FA which has been supporting the Rainbow Laces Campaign for a number of years, to drive awareness and increase support for the LGBTQ+ communities within Somerset.

The campaign is in it’s 10 year this year, and to date, across the Country, over a million people have laced up to show their support to LGBTQ+ communities across the Country.

When we wear the rainbow laces, we commit to having honest conversations about the experiences of LGBTQ+ people in sport and fitness.

Football and Sport in general, is an important part of so many of our lives – it has the power to bring people together, and to improve our mental and physical health. But too many LGBTQ+ people still feel confronted with a choice between loving their sport and being their true selves.

Through this campaign, not only in Somerset, but across the Country we want to help start these conversations to ensure LGBTQ+ feel welcome in sport.  We want to encourage people to speak up within their families, friends, teams and clubs because conversation matters, and every conversation helps identify new allies and people to help make football and sport a more inclusive place.

Somerset FA’s vision is Football for Everyone, Everyone for Football and as a County FA we are committed to striving towards this across all aspects of the game, ensuring every person and community feels safe, welcome and supported to access the beautiful game.
