Summer recruit Phil Mendonca is unfortunately likely to miss the 2023-24 season following a breakdown during training. The locally based youngster who formerly suffered a bad knee injury whilst trialling for Derby County has received a setback in his ambitions to rebuild his footballing career with the news that reconstructive surgery is necessary on his knee, ruling him out for up to a year. Head of Football Rob Dray said:” It’s a real shame for Phil with this reoccurring injury but he is young and will undoubtedly come again once he has fully recovered. He will still remain involved with the squad at the club and we look forward to having him back playing in due course.”
