The Peacocks host local rivals Tiverton Town in a Boxing Day derby tomorrow afternoon, KO: 3pm.

Bragging rights are up for grabs and the two sides go into the game experiencing a different set of fortunes. Rob Day’s men proudly sit top of the table with a 7 point cushion over this Saturday’s opponents Weymouth, who have two games in hand.

Tiverton have struggled for form in recent matches and have slipped to 13th place from a play-off position they occupied for some time and are now just 5 points off the relegation zone. However, the matches between the two clubs in previous seasons have always lived up to expectations and they will no doubt be looking to avenge the 3-1 defeat by Taunton at Ladymead in August.

Ed Palmer has recovered from a cold with kept him out of Town’s victory over Staines Town last Saturday and James Dodds arrives on a month loan from Exeter City. Goalkeeper Mike Davies also comes into the squad as Lloyd Irish has now departed for a 3 week break in Australia.

Head of Football Rob Dray commented, “We’re looking forward to this game and they really don’t get much bigger for the supporters. Form and league positions go straight out the window in derbies and as clichéd as it sounds, it’s about who wants it more on the day. The players are confident, focused and realise how important this game is to us and our league position and we will give it everything we’ve got to ensure we get the result we want.”
