The Viridor Stadium hosts its first pre-season football when the Peacocks take on a Plymouth Argyle XI tomorrow evening (24th July), kick-off 7.45pm.

Town began their schedule of friendlies with a 5-0 win at Western League Willand Rovers ten days ago so tomorrow’s game gives home fans their first chance of seeing last season’s West Division title winners  in action ahead of their debut campaign at Southern Premier level.

With the Argyle first team squad on a training camp in the Netherlands, the visiting side tomorrow will be predominantly be sourced from their reserve team squad but the match will still provide a decent test for the Peacocks who also face League opposition in the shape of Exeter City this coming Friday.

Michael Meaker and Rob Dray will take charge of the team tomorrow in the absence of holidaying manager Leigh Robinson, with coach Dray commenting: ”This weeks sees our schedule ramped up with the visit of Plymouth and a strong Exeter side on Friday. It’s always good to play structured technical teams that will starve us of the ball for periods which will allow the boys to work hard on their shape and stamina. Last week gave us the chance to work on some set pieces which will be crucial in this division and some more stamina work; one of the biggest things we have noticed in this pre-season has been our levels of fitness which have been excellent so far.”

The whole squad is available for the game which will also feature two trialists and the home debut of summer signing Andrew ‘Rocky’ Neal.
