Hopefully it will be fourth time lucky when the Peacocks entertain Wimborne Town at the Viridor Stadium tomorrow evening (13th February), kick-off 7.45pm.
The fixture has so far been postponed on three occasions, the first due to Town’s involvement in the Buildbase FA Trophy while the other two were down to a waterlogged pitch. The weekend win at Yate Town saw the Peacocks extend their lead at the top of the table to twelve points and with Salisbury not playing in midweek, they have the opportunity to build the buffer further tomorrow. However it promises to be another testing encounter as the Dorset club sit in 8th spot and are among a host of clubs in contention for at least a play-off place. After suffering three successive defeats at the start of the year, they have bounced back with two wins and a draw from their last three matches, with two very late goals from Bideford only denying them a third win. The Magpies also possess Toby Holmes who lies second in the divisional scoring charts so Town will need to be on their game to achieve a positive result. Confidence is high in the Peacock camp though after a run of 19 league games without defeat and they again name the same squad that were on duty at Yate on Saturday.
A weather warning has been issued for overnight, with several hours of heavy rain forecast followed by a dry day. Although the pitch has been sanded today, there are still some wet areas so there will be a precautionary check tomorrow morning.
