The Peacocks concluded their pre-season campaign with a 2-1 win over Yeovil Town at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium this evening (11th September).

Both sides had opportunities before the hosts went ahead on the half hour when Dan Sullivan’s corner was steered home by Nick Grimes on the near post. Yeovil had the chance to draw level a minute into the second half when Courtney Duffus was pushed in the box but Rhys Murphy saw his penalty hit the post. The Peacocks then doubled their lead after 56 minutes, Ross Staley’s venomous strike from the left being parried by Adam Smith and Gethyn Hill was there to nod the rebound over the line. The Glovers pulled a goal back with 12 minutes remaining when Luke Wilkinson headed home on the far post from a Matt Worthington corner but Town stood firm to gain victory ahead of their first Southern League game in a week’s time.
