The Peacocks will be desperately hoping to play their first home game in three weeks when they entertain Weston-super-Mare in the Vanarama National League South tomorrow evening (27th February), ko 7.45pm.

Three successive home fixtures have been postponed due to the pitch being waterlogged at Wordsworth Drive and given the 28mm of rain which fell on the turf yesterday there will be an inspection early tomorrow afternoon to confirm whether the game can proceed. If it does, Town will hope to build on the point they gained at Dartford on Saturday which although welcome still leaves them deep in trouble one spot above the bottom four.

The Peacocks have become the draw specialists in the division with their tally now reaching 13 after the weekend but three point returns are needed to pull them clear of danger and there won’t be a better time to start than against their Somerset rivals who sit eight points clear in 16th place, having played two more games. Since being promoted back to the National South for this season from the Southern Premier South, Weston have held their own with 12 wins and 14 defeats from 32 outings, with their away record better than at home with seven victories recorded on the road. They saw their home game with Eastbourne fall victim to the weather on Saturday so action under the floodlights tomorrow will be greatly desired by both sides as the campaign enters its final two months.

Town name an unchanged squad from the Dartford game, with Head of Football Rob Dray commenting:” We’re really hoping the game goes ahead as it will be good to play at home again and start to get some continuity following on from Saturday’s positive away point. We as a group are fully aware our home form is going to be key in retaining our status so we must strive to take full advantage tomorrow.”

Last meeting: the Seagulls have been familiar opponents over the years, most recently on 2nd April 2022 when the Peacocks grabbed a memorable 3-2 win at Wordsworth Drive. Gethyn Hill and Joe Budd gave Town a two goal lead before goals from Jordan Bastin and Kieran Thomas either side of the break brough the scores level. However a superb free kick from Ben Adelsbury snatched victory one minute from the end. Relive the match highlights HERE
