A hectic schedule of ten games in the final month of the Vanarama National League South season begins for the Peacocks tomorrow (1st April) with the visit of leaders Ebbsfleet United to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium, ko 3.00pm. However, following the rainfall of recent days, whether the game goes ahead will depend on an inspection at 8.00am tomorrow morning. The pitch failed an initial inspection at 4.30pm today but a further assessment will be made first thing tomorrow.

The Kent side have had a superb year, sitting on top of the pile for the vast majority of the season after winning their first nine League fixtures. Although second placed Dartford have two games in hand, Ebbsfleet are 21 points clear and mathematically only need another four points or to better Dartford’s result tomorrow to claim the title and promotion back to the National League from which they were relegated in 2020. Their only blip of the campaign came during December when they lost four matches on the bounce, since when they have embarked on an unbeaten run of 17 League games. On the road they have won 13 of their 20 matches with only two defeats so the task facing the Peacocks is obvious.

The earlier fixture between the sides last year resulted in a convincing win for the hosts, the only time in their debut National League South season that the Peacocks have been outplayed in a game. They will hope for a more combative performance if the game goes ahead tomorrow when they name an unchanged squad from the visit to Hampton & Richmond Borough on Tuesday.
