We are delighted to welcome Steve Phillips to the club who has joined the management team as a coach.

Steve remarked:” I am delighted to have been asked by Rob to join the coaching team at Taunton Town, a club that has been a pleasure to watch grow from afar and have huge league and cup success over the last few years. I am looking forward to working with Dan and Lloyd along with the playing squad and coaching staff to keep the squad improving and winning.”

Phillips comes to Wordsworth Drive having amassed a vast amount of goalkeeping experience in the professional game. After starting out at Paulton Rovers he went on to play more than 250 games for Bristol City over a nine year period, during which time he was named in the PFA Team of the Year for the Second Division for 2003-04. He then went on to make a further 136 senior appearances for Bristol Rovers before becoming first choice at Crewe Alexandra from 2009 until 2014, since when he has featured for Bath City and Mangotsfield United as well as assuming an interim coaching role at Yeovil Town.

Head of Football Rob Dray added:” It’s great to get Steve on board as he has a massive wealth of knowledge and experience gained in the EFL. He comes as a seamless fit for us to join the coaching staff. Although he will obviously have a focus on the goalkeepers he will definitely offer so much more to the whole of the management team.”
