A brace of penalties from Toby Holmes steered the Peacocks to a 2-1 Southern League victory over Kings Langley at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium this afternoon.

The result secured Town’s sixth successive League win and their 11th League game without defeat but it was far from straightforward. The Peacocks took the lead after 10 minutes when Gethyn Hill was tripped by Kyle O’Connor-Ajayi and Holmes duly despatched the spot kick. O’Connor-Ajayi was again the culprit four minutes later when he brought down Ross Stearn and Holmes comfortably beat Alfie Marriott again from the spot to double Town’s lead. The visitors reduced the arrears three minutes before the break when a Jamie Jellis corner wasn’t cleared, and Ferrell Charles hooked a strike into the far corner.

The second half became a scrappy affair with limited opportunities, the only real negative point being Hill having to be substituted with a nasty head injury. Despite not hitting the heights Town remained in control to claim the points and maintain 4th place in the table.
