There was no Boxing Day cheer for the Peacocks as they fell to a 4-1 defeat at Vanarama National League South leaders Yeovil Town this afternoon.

The hosts were in complete control during the first half, going ahead on the quarter hour when Michael Smith’s cross was swept home by Frank Nouble before the favour was returned six minutes later when Smith picked his spot from Nouble’s lay-off. The Glovers eased off after the break until hitting the Peacocks with two goals in three minutes, Rhys Murphy shrugging off two defenders to convert a ball over the top on 69 minutes and Sonny Blu Lo-Everton’s shot sneaking home inside Dan Lavercombe’s post three minutes later. Austen Booth notched a consolation goal after 78 minutes when he headed in Lloyd James’ corner but there was no doubting Yeovil’s deserved victory over the Peacocks who finished with ten men following the late dismissal of Nick McCootie..
