A late goal denied the Peacocks progress in the Emirates FA Cup as they drew 1-1 at Merthyr Town this evening.

A full blooded 2nd Round Qualifying tie produced a goalless first half in which the home side from the Southern League had the better openings but it was the visitors who took the lead on 68 minutes when Ross Stearn found Nat Jarvis and he did superbly to turn and fire into the top corner from around ten yards. Stearn’s cross hit the bar as Town looked to manage the remainder of the game which they looked to be doing comfortably until a forward ball found a gap and Ricardo Rees slotted beyond Dan Lavercombe with two minutes remaining for the equaliser. Its now back to Wordsworth Drive for the replay on Tuesday evening.
