The Peacocks fought back from two goals down to earn a well deserved 2-2 draw with Exeter City in their latest friendly at the Viridor Stadium yesterday evening (27th July).

There were no chances at either end until the League Two side took the lead when Joel Randall converted after 25 minutes. Matt Jay curled home a superb effort for the visitors after 62 minutes to double the lead but Town hit back. Dan Sullivan drilled a fantastic strike past James Hamon to reduce the deficit after 65 minutes before Andrew Neal found the net with another terrific shot from the edge of the box twelve minutes later to ensure the Peacocks maintained their unbeaten pre-season record.

Reaction | Coach Rob Dray commented after the game: “Tonight was about as a complete pre-season performance as can be, but it is pre-season and we can’t get too carried away. There were so many pleasing facets, not least without three top players; the goals, the shape, our attitude to defend, and our undeniable spirit and momentum, the one thing you cannot quarry and what we have in abundance.

It’s very difficult to single out people from last night as literally everybody was a 9/10 but I go back to our fitness and after playing two pro sides we have looked stronger at the end.

So onto next week, this week has been great but no points were won, so we keep our heads down and carry on doing our jobs, be humble and win games of football, simple really! Lastly the support was fantastic this week, it really is a big selling tool for this club to potential players to come and play on a proper surface with a proper crowd, thank you.”
