We are delighted to welcome Malachi Linton to the club who has joined on a season-long loan from Yeovil Town. The 22 year old striker becomes the fourth new face of the summer for the Peacocks as they build up to the new season beginning on 5th August.
Speaking about his arrival at Wordsworth Drive, Malachi remarked:” I’m really excited to be here. The gaffer was a big pulling factor in getting me here and I just can’t wait to start playing for him and with my new teammates. Playing at different clubs under different managers you pick something up from each so hopefully I can implement what I’ve learnt to help the team achieve their goals this season. I can’t wait to get started.”
Linton arrives at Wordsworth Drive with a solid pedigree. He was a member of the academy at hometown club Ipswich Town for six years before joining Crewe Alexandra where he played for their Under 18’s and Under 23’s. A move to Lowestoft Town in the summer of 2019 led to a productive spell of 13 goals in 10 games which highlighted his potential to Wycombe Wanderers who signed him for the 2020-21 season. A loan spell followed at Slough Town during that campaign while a longer term loan saw him play for National League Kings Lynn Town in 2021-22. Following his release from Wycombe he joined Yeovil ahead of last season and scored five goals for the Glovers last term.
Commenting on his latest addition, Head of Football Rob Dray said:” It’s a bit of a coup for the club to be fair and many thanks to Mark Cooper and Chris Todd at Yeovil for sorting. Signing Malachi on loan from Yeovil shows how far we’ve come and where we want to go. He ticks a lot of boxes and is different to what we’ve got in our other forwards. He’s going to be a super lad to have in the team and has a great attitude, sometimes you find with loanees that they don’t buy in but straightaway I could see he had a massive buy-in and wanted to help us. Really looking forward to getting going with him now starting on Tuesday.”
