Town battled to a 2-1 victory over Beaconsfield Town yesterday afternoon (16 Feb), after going behind early on in the second half to make it consecutive away victories.

In a closely fought match neither side where able to break the deadlock in the opening 45 minutes. It was the hosts who struck first, as Brendon Matthew headed home Reece Yorke’s cross on 49 minutes.

The Peacocks responded in the 62nd minute through Dan Sullivan who found the bottom corner from range and grabbed the winner 5 minutes from time as Matt Wright’s header struck the woodwork and fell to Ed Palmer to rattle the back of the net from 6 yards.

After seeing his side extend their lead at the top of the table to 6 points Rob Dray commented, “Another fantastic edge of your seat win. The spirit shown by the lads after going a goal down was phenomenal. Ironically, I thought we had the best first half display for a long time where we were pretty much dominant but they defended well and we didn’t take several chances.”

“The last two games have had all sorts of different challenges in how myself, Matt and Steve have  “in game managed“ the players. Matt and Steve have both been instrumental in our decision making to get 6 points from 6 away from home.”

“The players are an amazing group; they never stop, never know when to stop, hard working and full of spirit. We have two home games now and we’re looking forward to getting back out there.”
