We are delighted to welcome Josh Owers to the club who has joined us from AFC Totton.

The 22 year old central midfielder progressed through the youth structure at Bristol City where his father Gary had made over 100 senior appearances. Whilst with the Robins, where he was a member of the Under 21 squad, Josh spent two lengthy loan spells at Bath City during 2021 and another with Gloucester City for the final three months of 2022. After spending time on loan with Yeovil Town towards the end of the 2022-23 campaign, he joined the Glovers permanently for last season and was a member of the squad that helped them secure the National League South title before moving on to AFC Totton during the summer.

Josh told the club’s media:” I’m buzzing to be here. I spoke to Luffers and I was really impressed with his plans for the club going forward and he is someone I am very looking forward to playing for. I know all about the club, I have played here a few times and have always been impressed with the fan base so I can’t wait to get started. Taunton have had a postive start to the season so I would like to help the team as much as possible carry that on.”

Taunton boss Richard Luffman remarked:” Josh is a Bristol boy who’s been travelling to Southampton to ply his trade with Totton after winning the National League South last season with Yeovil. Again he’s a massive signing for us and one we’d been tracking for a few weeks when we knew his situation at Totton with the travel. We’ve got great options in midfield but we’ve been lacking a proper defensive minded 6 in some games with Jake Hodgson the only other one we have playing at the back so it gives us plenty of depth now and Josh will help us play as he is a proper footballer.”
