The Peacocks made it two Vanarama National League South wins from two games at Wordsworth Drive this season as they beat Welling United 1-0 this afternoon.

The visitors will undoubtedly feel they deserved something from the game after they found themselves trailing after ten minutes. A ball forward saw Nick McCootie get the better of two defenders to find himself free with just keeper Ben Winterbottom to beat which he duly did by slotting into the far corner. The Wings had a golden chance to draw level five minutes before the break after Nick Grimes was adjudged to have pushed down Taofiq Olomowewe but Town keeper Dan Lavercombe came to the rescue by saving the penalty from Anthony Papadopoulos before Papadopoulos fired a 20 yard strike off the cross bar. The Peacocks soaked up a considerable amount of pressure after the break from a Welling side who could find no way through as Town held on to secure victory and their first clean sheet of the campaign.
