Two goals from summer signing Toby Holmes captured the points for the Peacocks as they beat Walton Casuals 2-0 at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium this afternoon (26th September).

Although not at their best Town did enough over the 90 minutes to claim their first Pitching In Southern League win of the season against tricky opposition. The first half saw nothing much to shout about with neither side creating many opportunities.

The deadlock was finally broken on the hour when Lloyd Irish’s clearance downfield found its way to Holmes on the right and he slanted his shot across Casuals keeper Denzel Gerrar into the far corner.

Walton wasted a good chance to draw level near the end when Zidan Akers ran through but his shot lacked power and proved an easy stop for Irish. Holmes then sealed victory on 87 minutes, wriggling through from the left touchline and beating the defender before drilling home a fine finish from a narrow angle for his fifth goal in three games.
