The Club have received notice that following an investigation by the FA, Dan has received a 4 month ban and a fine for contravening FA Rule E8 (Betting).
As many people will be aware, the FA having been carrying out investigations into betting activities by players and others connected to Football Clubs. Recently there has been a specific concentration of these investigations on clubs at step 3 in the non-league pyramid and we understand that at least 5 clubs from our division have been subject to these enquiries, including Taunton Town FC. These investigations are now complete.
The outcome as reported is that two of our players, Ollie Chamberlain & Dan Sullivan, have been sanctioned and have received fines and four month suspensions. These suspensions will be completed in good time to allow preparation for the 2022/23 season and both players are intending to re-sign for the Club.
Taunton Town FC does not condone any breaches of FA rules and agree that those guilty need to be punished in line with the penalties set out in the rules. However, the club will always take its responsibility towards the welfare of its players very seriously and we believe that once suspensions have been served, the players can re-start with a ‘clean sheet’.
