The club are delighted to announce the reappointment of manager Leigh Robinson for the 2018-19 season.

It will be the seventh year that Robinson is in charge after taking over the hot seat in June 2012, since when he has been at the helm for 323 matches of which 177 have been won, 64 drawn and 82 lost. The Peacocks have made progress each season under his leadership; after a difficult first campaign, his side captured the Somerset Premier Cup in 2013-14 which was retained in the following season as well as reaching the Evo-Stik League Play-Offs, the first of three successive appearances which saw Town miss out on each occasion. The 2016-17 season was particularly memorable for, apart from getting to the Play-Offs, the Town boss steered the Peacocks to an FA Cup 1st Round Proper meeting with Barrow and also won the Somerset Premier Cup for the third time in four years. 2017-18 has again proved unforgettable, with Town having won their first ever Southern League championship to secure promotion to the Southern Premier for the first time in their history, the result of a fabulous 29 game unbeaten run.

Speaking about his reappointment, Robinson commented:” Obviously I’m really pleased to still be managing this great club next season. It’s been a sensational last two seasons with the FA Cup First Round, Playoffs, FA Trophy First Round and now a comprehensive title win and as a club we are in brilliant shape both on and off the pitch. As I have said already this week, the Southern Premier is certainly not the Holy Grail for this club and my job therefore is to keep improving the team and work towards future success.”

Chairman Kevin Sturmey continued:” Again it has been a no brainer to reappoint Leigh as Manager. To gain promotion with seven games to go in March and then win the title was a phenomenal achievement and no more than he deserves. This success has been the result of six years hard work through some really good times and some tough times. Our working relationship is built on respect and an understanding that all we do every season has to be sustainable but with a vision of where we both know this great club could reach.”

The Chairman also recognised the support Robinson receives, saying: “The management team Leigh has around him is such a great mix of different characters that they all complement each other and all strive to bring success to the Viridor Stadium. Leigh is a great leader and is never afraid to make the tough decisions which epitomises his inner strength and his desire to take this club to the level which is achievable. He also continually adds players to the squad who have the right attitude for success and I hope we continue to realise our ambitions together.”
