There are two big Southern League games for the Peacocks over the festive period starting with the trip to play Truro City tomorrow afternoon (27th December), ko 3.00pm.

Town will be seeking the League double over Truro, having beaten them 2-1 at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium on August Bank Holiday Monday when a Dan Sullivan winner a minute from time secured the points after a Tyler Harvey penalty for the visitors had cancelled out Gethyn Hill’s opener. The sides also met early last month in the League Challenge Cup, with the Peacocks again coming out on top by a 3-1 margin. These earlier meetings will have no bearing on the clash at Bolitho Park against a City side which lies eight points adrift of Town in 14th spot, but which has three games in hand. Their away form is better than their home, with five wins on the road whereas at home they have won, drawn, and lost three games apiece. Their recent five game unbeaten run was ended by defeat at Chesham, but they recovered to hold leaders Farnborough to a 2-2 draw in their most recent game a fortnight ago.

The Peacocks will approach the match with confidence following their resounding win over play-off hopefuls Harrow Borough on Tuesday which made it seven competitive games undefeated. They welcome back Jake Wannell to the squad after the completion of his three game ban, but Sullivan and Ben Adelsbury are still not fit yet to return. Winger Conor Hartley meanwhile has gone on loan to Bideford. Head of Football Rob Dray sounded a cautious note ahead of the game, saying:” Derbies are notorious as levellers and the league table means nothing as I firmly believe Truro will be in the mix come April. We need to make sure we are hard to beat away from home and if we can get a result tomorrow that will be massive for us.”

Just a reminder that the White Tigers are currently groundsharing at Plymouth Parkway FC whilst they await confirmation of their new stadium back in Cornwall.
