The Peacocks will be striving to end the month with a 100% record when they welcome Kings Langley to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium tomorrow afternoon (29th January), ko 3.00pm.
Four successive Southern League victories since the turn of the year have propelled Town into 4th place and another three points tomorrow would be a perfect way to conclude January as the Peacocks attempt to extend their 12 game unbeaten run in all competitions. The Kings travel west lying in 20th position but cannot be underestimated. A run of three consecutive defeats was halted by them holding leaders Farnborough to a 1-1 draw last weekend whilst they have also gained home wins over Hayes & Yeading United and Poole Town this season. However their record on the road is not so good, having secured just six points from their 14 away fixtures to date, with their only victory coming at Hendon on New Year’s Day. With the Peacocks having won 9 of their 11 home matches so far, they will therefore be hoping the form book remains undisturbed.
The earlier meeting between the sides in Hertfordshire in early October ended all square, Kadir Kareem giving the hosts the lead before Jake Wannell equalised. Wannell returns to the squad after missing the last three weeks due to a hand injury, but Ross Staley is out due to Covid whilst a couple of players face fitness tests. Head of Football Rob Dray commented: “Tomorrow is the first of two important home games coming up which we need to take advantage of to maintain our run, especially after such a tough game last weekend. Kings Langley come to us on the bounce of a great draw against the league leaders. Therefore concentration and professionalism are key as we enter the final third of the season.”
