After two pre-season friendlies against higher ranked sides, the Peacocks take on a team lower down the pyramid when they welcome Helston Athletic to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium tomorrow evening (15th July), ko 7.45pm.
The Cornish outfit will soon be starting their second season in the Western League Premier Division, having progressed from the Cornwall Combination to the South West Peninsula League in 2011 before being promoted to the Western League for their debut last season in which they finished in 9th place. They have played two warm-up games so far, a 3-1 defeat at Okehampton Argyle being followed by a 2-1 victory at Camelford on Tuesday evening.
The Peacocks meanwhile have looked solid in their three games to date, with a narrow defeat to Exeter City sandwiching a win at Bitton and a draw with Yeovil earlier this week. Head of Football Rob Dray said:” It will be pretty much the same squad as the Yeovil game, with some slight rotation to get minutes into other players. It will be another good test in quick succession which will be difficult in a different way after playing two professional sides.”
Admission: payable by card or cash at the turnstile only, priced at £5 for Adults and Concessions and £1 for Juniors (14-17 years). Children aged 13 and under are free on condition they are accompanied by an adult. Unaccompanied Under 14’s will not be admitted.
Last meeting: this will be the first meeting between the sides.
NOTICE: as tomorrow’s game is not against opposition of a higher level, the bar will be open as normal and alcohol will be permitted pitchside.
