The Peacocks face a crucial rearranged game in the Vanarama National League South when they welcome Concord Rangers to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium tomorrow evening (4th April), ko 7.45pm.
With nine games to go until the end of the season, Town know they are not out of the woods yet as far as the threat of relegation is concerned and with tomorrow being one of the games in hand on the sides above them, the original fixture being postponed in January due to a waterlogged pitch, they will be looking to maintain the recent upturn in performances which has seen them win two away games from three before narrowly succumbing in stoppage time to leaders Ebbsfleet United at the weekend.
Canvey Island-based Concord have actually played two games fewer than the Peacocks and face an even more hectic finale to the campaign. They currently sit in bottom place with only one win from their last nine outings, but if they can utilize their games in hand to their full extent, they are able to climb out of the relegation zone so they should have no shortage of motivation following their long trip as they seek to halt a run of four successive defeats, with losses to Chelmsford, Hemel Hempstead and Farnborough in the League plus Braintree in the final of the Essex Senior Cup.
The Peacocks meanwhile will be desperate to bring a run of five successive home defeats to an end to set them up for four further matches at the Cygnet during April, three of which are against sides who are also fighting to hold onto their Step 2 status. They will be missing the suspended Nat Jarvis who begins a three game ban following his dismissal at Hampton & Richmond Borough last Tuesday. Head of Football Rob Dray said:” Tomorrow is a massive game. We need to follow up the last four games with another big performance. We were desperately unlucky on Saturday and if we can replicate the levels we have shown recently then we will have nothing to fear.”
