The Peacocks return to action when they host Street in the 2nd Round of the UES Somerset Premier Cup tomorrow evening (7th November), ko 7.45pm.
Saturday’s postponed game with Farnborough meant a second blank weekend in four for Town and another ten days without a game since earning a point at Chelmsford in their last outing. As a result, Head of Football Rob Dray is treating the tie as a full first team fixture and names the same squad which would have been on duty had the weekend match gone ahead. He remarked:” After the postponed game on Saturday we can’t afford to lose continuity. We’ve already had a two week period without a game and with a busy programme this month we must stay focused. Therefore we will go full tilt in the cup tie tomorrow ahead of three tough away games on the bounce.”
Street sit in 9th place in the Western League Premier Division with five wins and three defeats from their 12 fixtures to date, two of those losses coming in their four most recent games including a 6-1 drubbing at Falmouth Town whilst they were also knocked out of the Les Phillips Cup by First Division Wells City on penalties. In the first round of the Premier Cup they disposed of Radstock Town by a 6-3 margin and will be hoping to cause an upset at the Somerset Campervan Stadium tomorrow evening as they look to progress to the quarter finals of the competition. The Peacocks were also in goalscoring form in the first round when they defeated Western League First Division leaders Portishead Town 5-2 and having not found the net in their three most recent league games the hosts will want to end their drought under the lights in a game which sees reduced admission prices at the gate.
