The Peacocks will be seeking to secure a hat trick of consecutive victories on the road when they travel to Eastbourne Borough in the Vanarama National League South tomorrow afternoon (16th March), ko 3.00pm.
Town have trebled their success rate away from home this season in the past week with impressive wins at promotion chasing Worthing last weekend followed up by a 3-0 victory at Torquay United on Tuesday evening, those results giving an altogether healthier view of the league table with the Peacocks having climbed out of the relegation zone into 18th place and within touching distance of mid-table security if they make good use of their games in hand.
Borough meanwhile are entrenched in the bottom four in 22nd position, having won nine of their 37 fixtures played, six of those victories coming at Priory Lane where they have picked up four points from six during the past week. They registered a 1-0 win over Hemel Hempstead last weekend and then a 1-1 draw with basement side Dover Athletic in midweek but prior to last Saturday had lost four from five so with every point precious from now on in a positive result will be crucial for whoever comes out on top tomorrow.
The Peacocks have already made a fruitless journey to Priory Lane this season, only to see the game abandoned at half time in December due to fog and holding a 2-1 thanks to goals from Nick McCootie and Zac Smith. Playing in that game for Eastbourne was winger Leone Gravata who moved to National League York City a week ago. Manager Adam Murray wasted no time in bringing in a replacement, with Cray Wanderers forward Yahaya Bamba joining the ranks at the East Sussex club.
It’s an unchanged squad for Taunton tomorrow from the Torquay game, with Head of Football Rob Dray commenting: “Another away game and a long journey. Results and performances in the past week have been great but replicating levels is difficult with the number of games. The lads are in a good place though, so we go again.”
