Lloyd Irish

Goalkeeper / Goalkeeping Coach

Competitive Debut: 29/11/2008 v AFC Hayes (H), Southern League

First game for the Peacocks: As above

Lloyd is in his third spell with the club, having made his debut as far back as 2008. He had risen through the youth ranks at Yeovil Town, making an unused sub appearance in a Carling Cup tie at Middlesbrough in August 2008, before linking up with the Peacocks in November later that year. He spent two seasons at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium, during which time he won the Supporters’ Player of the Year award in 2009. He then moved on to Conference South club Weston-super-Mare in 2010 where he spent four seasons as first choice keeper, including a run of 119 consecutive games. Lloyd spent a loan period at Tiverton Town during 2013-14 before leaving Weston in the summer of 2014 to join Bideford. However, his stay in North Devon was short-lived and he re-signed for the Peacocks in October 2014.

Upon his return he was a virtual ever-present, making 239 consecutive appearances from his first game back until missing several matches during 2018-19 and accumulating 370 Peacock appearances in all up to the end of the 2020-21 season. His popularity saw him pick up the Players’ Player of the Year award in 2015-16, the season which saw him score his only goal for the Peacocks with a downfield punt against North Leigh to win the game. He retained the Players’ Player award the following season when he also scooped the Supporters’ Player of The Year accolade before being the recipient of the Ernie Price Memorial Cup for 2017-18.

Lloyd had some time out recovering from a shoulder injury during the 2021-22 campaign before deciding to move on and sign for Barnstaple Town in January 2022. However he soon returned to the Peacocks in the summer of 2022 ahead of their National League South debut and in the summer of 2023 was appointed to the management team as Goalkeeping Coach.
